Of course minimum required tiles parameter set to 0 does not mean that you will have exactly 0 of those, but it will become possible. Unless you actually want to have a world devoid of elves - try to not set minimum forest tiles and minimum good tiles to 0. As above, you can do this in the Advanced world generator. For example you need forests with good spirit for elves to even appear. Hello and thanks for the add, Im new to dwarf fortress, what is so bad about the aquifers. Just try to not decrease it to 0 unless you are ready to face the consequences. For example you might have lots of messages of not enough tiles of some biome - then either try to play with landscape parameters to increase the chance of that biome generation or decrease required minimum amount of tiles for that region. Its a lot to get a handle on but you can really dig down into it. Then check for the latest messages and see if you can fix them. I recommend checking out the world generation pages on the wiki, especially for advanced world generation. Reading this file will give you a better insight into why the world was being rejected than the notification message shown above. This will create a file called map_rejection_log.txt in the main Dwarf Fortress folder, into which the rejection reasons will be saved. > To log all rejections into a file, change the relevant setting in d_init.txt from to. The whole planet is a desert, some places are rockier than others and there are few lakes. One generic advice though: you can check the reasons for worlds rejections in the log file. Its goal is to be less of a video game and more like a supremely complex fantasy world simulator, simulating dozens of nations and hundreds of thousands of. When you make and save changes to the prefs, a new 'worldgen' file will be created automatically. The game will now have the default world gen preferences. Go to the folder called 'prefs' and delete the file called 'worldgen'. My worlds keep failing and it is hard to figure out why. just figured this one out - on the library page for dwarf fortress, go to the gear->manage->browse local files. I have some experience with advanced world generation and can try to answer more specific questions you might have. Advanced World Generation Does anyone have a good guide they can point me to for advanced world gen Id like to start making more custom worlds but theres so many parameters and most of them arent really self explanatory. Upon doing so I realized I never shared these advanced World Gen parameters I spent weeks or possibly months working on. All of those are completely different sets of parameters. on: December 13, 2022, 01:34:47 pm Playing the steam release left me desiring to play the now 'classic' DF. Some people want tons of volcanoes, some - unicorns everywhere, some - fight to your last breath with hordes of zombies. I don't think the guide you want even possible though as it is hard to recommend anything specific without the knowledge of what you want to achieve. Wiki is great for parameters description, although some of them can be quite complicated even then.
